School Ambassadors

Young people are the future of our community. Through our School Ambassadors Program, we work together with our school communities to build a better future.

What is the School Ambassador Program?

Through events, learning, and advocacy opportunities, the School Ambassador program educates socially minded year 10 and 11 students on important social issues.

We give students the opportunity to engage in social justice issues, learn about social disadvantage, and empower them to make a difference.

School Ambassador Events & Activities

Ambassador launch

Ambassadors from all participating schools come together to learn about their roles as Ambassadors, meet Anglicare WA youth workers and service staff and see the Street Connect bus. (photo- left)

Advocacy Masterclass

Anglicare WA works hard to give a voice to those that need it on both an individual and a systemic level. Ambassadors from all participating schools will come together to learn about advocacy, hear from guest speakers and develop skills to advocate for themselves and issues that are important to them.

Anglicare WA School Sleep Out

The biggest event on the Ambassador calendar and a night not to be missed. More than 500 Ambassadors from 20 schools sleep out in the elements at Optus Stadium. This night-long homelessness simulation exposes students to some of the complexities of homelessness that they may have never considered before. The School Sleep Out is also an important fundraising event for Street Connect. (photo- right)

Guest Speakers

Anglicare WA staff are available to lead education sessions and experiences at your school to increase awareness and knowledge around important social issues.

Awareness, Advocacy & Fundraising

Ambassadors are encouraged to use the skills they develop in this program to raise awareness and support for the issues we see at Anglicare WA within their school community. There are several existing projects to get involved in or students may want to create their own campaign or drive. (photo- left, with Perth College Students working on their Christmas Gift campaign)

Ambassador Alumni

Once an Anglicare Ambassador has completed secondary school, they will be invited to join the Ambassador Alumni group. The alumni group enables students to continue to develop their advocacy and social justice interests and will offer networking, volunteering and advocacy opportunities into adulthood.
